Sarah Brown, a partner at Petrella Brown, is originally from Iowa.  She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2004 and was admitted to the Michigan State Bar that same year.  Upon graduation, she moved to the Detroit metro area and began practicing law with Marisa Petrella.  From 2007 to 2010, Sarah lived in Wiesbaden, Germany, where she became proficient in German and further developed the firm’s immigration practice, as she was not far from the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt. 

Sarah is also proficient in French, as she spent time studying in Lyon, France, and also worked at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, and Strasbourg, France.

She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).  She has also been admitted to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

She has represented clients with immigration issues before the Detroit Immigration Court and the Federal District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan.  She is also experienced in handling appellate immigration cases both at the Board of Immigration Appeals level and at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.  She has argued cases before panels of judges at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, Ohio. 

Additionally, Sarah assists clients with naturalization and legal permanent residence cases before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.  She also assists clients with business- and family-based visas at the U.S. Consular level through the U.S. Department of State.

While primarily practicing immigration law, Sarah has also expanded her practice to include estate planning.

In addition to her law practice, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and children.  She likes to cook and has recently expanded her cooking to include Paleo dishes using healthy alternatives to gluten and dairy.  She also practices Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
