International Women's Forum

Com Impact

Managing Partner Marisa Petrella is the President and Founder of this organization that honors and celebrates the diversity of women and promotes the interaction of women from different cultures in order to advance peace and equality. Each year, the Forum holds a celebration on International Women's Day, March 8. In the past few years, speakers at the event have included:

· Maria Eliason shared her unique life journey as a music educator, pianist and arts promoter. Mrs. Eliason studied at the Bela Bartók Conservatory and Eötvös Lóránd University in Budapest, Hungary, her birthplace. She has taught music in Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, England, Hungary and the United States. She introduced the group to the first known woman composer, Hildegard von Bingen, and spoke of other outstanding women musicians like Maria Anna Mozart and Clara Schumann.

· Elizabeth M. Donovan, Associate Clinical Professor and Director of Community Development Law Clinic at Ave Maria Law School in Naples, Florida, spoke about human trafficking awareness. Professor Donovan has worked to help women who have been smuggled into the United States to be domestic slaves or prostitutes. (If you suspect that a person may be a victim of human trafficking, call Homeland Security Investigations Tip Line at 866.347.2423.)

Ms. Holmes has served as an expert witness internationally and in U.S. Federal and state courts. She is also a speaker and writer on handwriting analysis. Besides the United States, Ms. Holmes has lived in Brussels, Belgium and Abidjan in the Ivory Coast, West Africa.

Support of The Twilight Benefit Foundation and NAMI

Petrella Brown PLC has worked with The Twilight Benefit Foundation that provides assistance to families who have children with special physical needs, among other philanthropic efforts. The firm has supported and promoted the organization. Earlier this year the firm's staff attended a dinner on behalf of a client with special needs.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness - Michigan (NAMI - Michigan) is an organization devoted to supporting people with serious mental illness - an issue that Petrella Brown PLC often must consider when working with special needs estate planning clients. NAMI frequently serves as a resource for our clients, and Petrella Brown PLC has assisted various persons referred by NAMI for legal concerns involving mental illness.

Making Our Clients Feel Valued

Clients feel valued

This summer, we threw a party for a client to celebrate a major milestone in her life: turning one hundred years old. To honor her love for the Detroit Tigers, the birthday party was baseball-themed and even included a special guest - Paws, the Tigers' mascot!
